Calls for proposals within the Nordic Marine Innovation
open for Canadian participation

  – NEW DEADLINE for both modules is set
   to August 8

Project partners outside the Nordic region are welcome to participate, but cannot be funded through the Nordic Marine Innovation program.

ACOA Newfoundland and Labrador
With respect to prospective project partners from Canada, Nordic Innovation is cooperating with ACOA Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), regarding possible co-funding options to enable the participation of NL business and/or researchers.

In the recent past, ACOA NL has provided funding for collaborative NL-Nordic initiatives (eg cod aquaculture) and may be a potential source for modest investment in additional collaborative initiatives deemed beneficial to the province’s marine sector. It may also provide assistance in identifying additional and/or alternate sources of funding at the local, provincial, regional or national level.

Nordic Innovation is also cooperating with NRC/IRAP Atlantic & Nunavut, under similar conditions as ACOA, regarding possible co-funding options to enable participation of Canadian business and/or reserchers in marine projects. National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the Government of Canada's premier organization for research and development. NRC is represented in every Province in Canada, with 20 institutes and national programs with specialized expertise, like Institute of Ocean Technology (IOT) and Institute in Marine Biology (IMB).

NRC also takes part in collaborative research with private sector companies and or other research institutes both Nationally and Internationally, with over a 100 ongoing Formal collaborative research agreements with international partners.

The National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) provides a range of both technical and business oriented advisory services along with potential financial support to growth-oriented Canadian small- and medium-sized enterprises. The program is delivered by an extensive integrated network of 240 professionals in 100 communities across the country. Working directly with these clients, NRC-IRAP supports innovative research and development and commercialization of new products and services.

The NRC-IRAP portfolio of services has four main components: Technology Expertise and Advisory Services Financial Assistance for R&D activities Networking Partnerships. NRC-IRAP network, through its Contributions to Organizations, extends to linkages with Provincial Government labs, Universities and other Research organizations. NRC-IRAP facilitates program linkages between its clients and a variety of S&T organizations, primarily in USA, Europe and Southeast Asia. NRC-IRAP work with SMEs to expand opportunities for technology exchange and the establishment of joint ventures with foreign enterprises.
